Real Estate Developer

Philip Garland is the visionary founder and president of Lexington Land Developers, a company specializing in residential land development in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Since its inception in 1981, he has led the firm to develop numerous elegant residential projects across the state, marking over four decades of substantial contributions to the local housing market.

His company's portfolio showcases a range of developments, including large-scale projects like a 122-unit multi-residential complex and smaller ventures that feature 98, 45, and 46 residential units. These developments reflect his keen eye for design and functionality and commitment to enhancing community living spaces.

Starting Lexington Land Developers from the ground up, Garland has cultivated a deep understanding of the challenges and rewards of building a successful business. This insight has been instrumental in his efforts to mentor emerging entrepreneurs and invest in new ventures, notably supporting the startup of Reed Concrete.

Garland's academic background is rooted in a practical education from Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, where he completed a two-year program in carpentry and graduated as a top student in 1981. His exceptional skills earned him the college's most prestigious award, bestowed annually on a single standout graduate—a tradition dating back to 1920.

Thaddeus Stevens, College of Technology, has a history of preparing students for specialized careers through a robust blend of academic and vocational training. Today, the college offers an array of associate degrees and certificate programs to over 1,400 students, nurturing the next generation of skilled professionals.

During his college years, Garland was focused on academics and actively engaged in athletics, serving as the team captain for the cross-country and indoor track teams.

His longstanding relationship with the college continues through generous financial contributions and over fourteen years of service on the Alumni Foundation and Association Boards, including a decade as treasurer.

On a personal front, Garland's life is rich with family and community engagements. He married in 2002 and is a proud father and stepfather, raising his children with a strong sense of responsibility and care.

Garland has also been deeply involved in coaching youth lacrosse for eight years, during which he implemented a motivational initiative. In his final year of coaching, he promised each eighth grader a $500 reward if they adhered to the values encapsulated in motivational posters he distributed—a promise to foster integrity and perseverance among young athletes.

Garland's philanthropy extends to supporting his stepson through recovery from alcohol dependency, providing a stable home environment, and funding rehabilitation programs. His commitment to family support also manifested when he helped his nephew rebound from academic and personal challenges, facilitating his entry into Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology.

Beyond his business and family life, Garland is a committed volunteer and donor. He supports his church, various local school initiatives, and fire departments and has extended his charitable efforts to assist children in conflict-affected areas like Ukraine.

Garland is an avid runner who competes and excels in his age group, demonstrating his dedication to health and fitness. His multifaceted life, marked by professional success, community service, and personal commitment, continues to inspire those around him, embodying the values of leadership, mentorship, and civic responsibility.
